Blueberry Barn is 4 miles from Bruton. We can see King Alfred's Tower, a Stourhead 'folly' from the farm, it’s 1.5 hours to walk to it along footpaths through the fields.

Bruton has several excellent restaurants including The Roth Bar and Grill'; At The Chapel on the high street; Matts Kitchen, Briar, part of Number One Bruton, boutique hotel.

There are plenty of excellent pubs locally, several in Bruton, and the Three Horse Shoes in Batcombe. The pretty market towns of Castle Cary & Frome are both 15 mins away.

Glastonbury festival site is only 20 mins from the farm, Longleat is 25 mins away, Bath is 40 mins away and the Cathedral city of Wells is 25 mins away.

The Newt

A newly established garden of some 500 + acres, owned and run by the founders of Babylonstoren in South Africa. Miles of beautiful walkways through the woods; a garden museum, a Roman museum and replica Roman villa; unique tree walkway, cider press demonstration, conservatory and large vegetable garden. Restaurant and cafe, farm and gift shop.

National Trust Stourhead House & Gardens

A world-famous National Trust house stuffed full of treasures and a beautifully landscaped garden with rare and exotic trees, encircling a magnificent lake, with classical temples and mystical grottos.

Longleat House & Safari Park

It’s worth spending a whole day here, there is so much to see. The house itself is fascinating and the grounds are laid out with children in mind, there’s so many different activities for them including animal zoo, paddle boat trips on the lake, adventure playground and a maze. The Safari is also famous and is well worth a visit to see lions basking in the sun, giraffes from a special high walkway and monkeys who may steal your window wipers and aerial so beware.

Wells Cathedral

This gorgeous Cathedral is definitely worth a visit. The city itself is small and attractive, with traditional market place and several interesting shops and restaurants, as well as the Bishops Palace Gardens are also worth a visit.

Haynes Motor Museum

World class collection of cars dating back to the very first cars in production including many rare and famous cars, a must for anyone interested in cars or children, perfect activity for a wet day.

Wookey Hole

A magical day of history, mystery and fun, the caves are a fascinating place to visit for all the family. Ideal for a wet day.

Sherborne Castle
